Since most of the clothes in my closet are either black or some other neutral color I usually end up putting more emphasis on the textures in an outfit rather than the patterns or colors.
I am usually drawn to a combination of something shiny (like leather) with something softer (like fur or lace).
This jacket I found at a secondhand store gives me another texture to play around with. It's a soft fabric that has lots of folds and crinkles that makes it really fun to wear. I've already tried pairing it with a leather jacket and latex leggings (above pics). I might even try wearing it with a more voluminous texture (like fur) at some point.

mmmmm texture... i love different textures in all black...
I love mixing textures as well, creatures such a dynamic outfit. xx
You are one of those rare girls who know how to work black. Respect ;)
Those illustrations by Ben Tour are amazing... i would love to see it as a charcoal piece too.

thanks love!
awesome post.
i love all these pieces
I think when it comes to texture when wearing all black is great because sometimes, you don't really get to see all the detailing that something in black has to offer.
perfect!
wow!
it looks hot both times round, although the wet look leggings definately win it for me!
what an interesting texture-it must be heaps of fun to wear!
x

ohh wow love the texture and the volume!! So agree that you're one of the very few girls that know how to wear black well.
You look great!!
Aww Starr lovafriend, you look fantastic as always. That new layering piece looks so neat. Probably perfect for traveling too since it doubles as warmth and you don't have to worry about wrinkles (ok I am random as f)
PS: Is your real name Starr, because I call you that, but I dont know...
PSS: Did you re-dye/touch your hair? It looks lighter in these photos
Playing around with different textures of black is much more interesting for me than layering heaps of different colors / patterns
love your blog,
outfits are fabulous
I thought that was a scarf at first. Very interesting piece you've got there :)
Beautyful outfit as usual. ;b
that piece is incredibly interesting and it works so well with everything you have on!
I love how you always look like you stepped out of a Rick Owens themed editorial. And great philosophy-- black on black with different textures. I can't get enough of lace & leather too.
amazing - i love it!

I adore that outfit, especially the jacket. I think that outfit would look fab with some spike heels-like the sam edelman strap ones?- or some high docs.
You look fabulous.
xx. mavvie
I am a huge advocate of layering and you do it to perfection. Layering jackets = brilliant.
p.s how do you make your pictures so large?
that jacket is so crazy!
Oh I did get the boots ;k
You do all black texturing so well :) I am sad to say I lack texture in my closet greatly.
I just found your blog and I have to say that I love every piece of it! :)
Love that crinkly jacket, it's so interesting and versatile too. I feel like I need to introduce some texture into my wardrobe now too.
Oh wow, the jacket is fantastic!
Maria C: Aww thank you!
seralouise: Thank you for taking the time then :)
Jordan: Glad you found it <3
Something Picasso: Yes! I hate ironing. My last name IS Starr and yes I bleached my hair a little :P
myra: wow thank you
maverick: I agree. I hope I can find some when spring comes around.
charm: I think it just depends on the layout you use. I switched mine a while ago to allow for bigger pics.
