Sweater: UO, Leggings: Members Only, Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell
I've been really liking the combination of camel/olive/putty colors I've been seeing around a lot recently. It's an easy way to break up an all black wardrobe without having to worry about clashing. Speaking of which, if anyone wants to buy me this jacket for my birthday that would be great LOL
Last weekend I went the the Marine Corps Ball on Ellis Island with my boyfriend. I know I never mentioned it but I actually didn't know I was going until earlier that week (which made finding a dress a little stressful). It was definitely a memorable time and even though it meant a lot more traveling and a lot less sleep I'm glad I went.
Here are a few hotel outfit pictures I took when we came back to the hotel after the dinner to change. I didn't pull out my camera much that night but I'll update if I find some more pictures floating around somewhere.
About the dress; I ended up renting it from RentTheRunway since I had very little time to find a dress that was "black tie or ball gown". I'm pretty impressed with how simple the process is especially if you're in new york.
p.s.I just placed an order at Apothica.com that I'm pretty excited about and I wanted to share the friends&family 25% off discount code with you guys. Just enter FF25 at checkout. They also have an awesome selection of skincare at SkincareRx.com and they carry a huge variety of brands (skinmedica, chanel, skinceuticals, shiseido, etc.) Check it out before it expires on 12/1!
Spent the weekend going out to eat and relaxing since I know the next few weekends are going to be pretty busy. It's been hard for me to put any thought into what I'm wearing recently because of work/commuting, but on the bright side it has helped me realize what I gravitate towards naturally and what I can feel free to sell for extra cash.
Last weekend was pretty busy for me so I didn't have a chance to post a picture of my new sweatshirt cape. I love the leather pocket and how easy it is to just throw on. I wanted something that I knew I would wear all the time since I've been wearing a lot of simple black outfits lately. Right now lack of sleep + being sick = no creativity.
As you can tell I'm feeling pretty 70's inspired recently. Maybe the reason I'm not into minimalism as much right now is because I felt so restricted to wearing basic default outfits during the summer. Of course I'm still wearing simple outfits but right now I'm also having fun wearing a few more bohemian pieces per outfit than usual.
I've been getting into wearing pants more often now that it's starting to get cooler outside. My newest favorite are these distressed flare jeans by Lucky Brand. I'll take a better picture next time. They're soft and comfortable and feel more casual than my darker washes. Jeans aren't a staple in my wardrobe like most people so it feels really refreshing for me to be wearing them right now.
Probably not the best time of day to take pictures. They all came out pretty blurry but I guess it's better than nothing. I spent most of the day in air conditioned places so this outfit was extremely comfortable. This sweater makes me feel like I'm wearing a blanket.
I've been into flared pants lately. I really like how easy and laid back they feel. I have a knit pair, a black pair, and even those lace ones that everyone was wearing a while ago. Still on the lookout for the perfect light denim pair though (like MK's above). Let me know if you have any suggestions!
Even I can't believe my last post was a month ago...
Since then I've been doing some freelance work in ny and enjoying the summer on the weekends. The commute has kind of been wearing me out but it's great so far. It's kind of nice working in an air conditioned office where I can get away with dressing less summer appropriate.
I still have lots of blogs to catch up on. Thanks to those of you who continue to check up on mine despite the lack of posting!
Yes finally some leopard footwear. I know I'm late to the trend, but affordable leopard boots/shoes are surprisingly hard to find. These are by Sam Edelman found at a discounted price at Burlington Coat Factory.
Most recently I actually wore them to a job interview. Hopefully I hear back from them within the next two weeks because I really need to start making some money.
A few pictures from the fashion show. Everyone's collections looked amazing and we all pulled it off in the end :) I've finally graduated and am currently job hunting...but mostly relaxing and giving myself a little break from being stressed out. More updates this week!
I picked up this simple maxi dress in nyc's Topshop over the long weekend. I'm also wearing a long arrowhead necklace I made but you can't see it in this picture.
I don't have much to do this week besides putting together some jewelry to wear to the show and making sure everything is in order. It's been so hot recently I've had a hard time being outside for long periods of time. I'm searching for some super comfortable flat summer sandals; flip flops don't work for me. Any suggestions?
I love the colors in this editorial especially the deep warm reds and browns. These are the kinds of prints I could easily imagine pairing with my solid basics. Maybe I'll start with some of those bracelets or feather earrings..
These photos are from my second 'photo shoot' over the weekend. It was really hot and humid outside so having the fan blowing in my face for the indoor shots was a relief. I found this oversized shirt recently in an old suitcase. I must have bought it during the winter because it was hidden under a thick wool jacket. I'm glad I didn't lose it because it's a really easy comfortable piece to wear with shorts.
It was a fun day and the good food afterward didn't hurt either. Thanks Ashley and Mike!
