Overpacking

Let me start by saying I only come home from school for a week every few months. But somehow I still forget that I over pack each time and end up coming home with an oversize suitcase.

In reality I don't bring THAT many clothes and I could probably wear them all during the week. Most of the suitcase is left empty for purchases (not all clothes). My problem is that I just re-wear the same outfit most days because I'm never around the same people. This week I've been wearing something similar to the outfit in the second picture (leather jacket, gray hoodie, gray asymmetrical sweater vest, tee, black pants, and black shoes).

Anyway, I spent the day with my mom yesterday and went to the mall to stop at Sephora (I could spend soo long in there):

Spring Shoes

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Shoes: Oh Deer ($30)

So I did a bit of shopping in nyc over the weekend. I tried to keep spring/summer in mind but somehow I didn't buy any color. I also ended up with only tops+jackets but no bottoms. I think I was just too lazy to take off my pants.

Along with the shoes I also bought:

-A white asymmetrical jacket ($10)

-A black tie-dye long sleeve tee ($11)

-A skull print tee ($10)

-A few white tees ($6)

I will take pictures later but of course I forgot the cable for my camera so I won't be able to upload any outfits until the weekend :(

Relaxing

Hat: H&M, Tee: UO, Pants: Zara

Finals are over and I am SO relieved! It's a great feeling to know I won't have any homework to worry about for a week. I'm heading to NYC tomorrow to meet my family and hopefully do a little spring/summer shopping.

Also, I think I forgot to mention I'm planning on selling some clothes on the new selling feature on Chictopia. Here's a little writeup on Refinery 29:

Hat: F21, Jacket: vintage, Tee: UO, Skirt: F21, Boots: Payless

Yup it's that time again. I've got another sleepless week ahead of me so I probably won't have time for outfit posts. I'm also going to nyc then home next weekend so hopefully I will be getting a new computer asap. Until then, I hope everyone has a great week!

p.s. In case you can't tell I was feeling a little inspired by the Undercover pics in my last post :)

I think some leopard print shorts like these by Jun Takahashi would be really great for spring. I also want to make a jacket with inserts like that!

Time for some jewelry

I think now that the weather is getting warmer it's a good time to start focusing on jewelry.

During the winter you're basically covering your arms and hands every day so there's really no point in wearing loads of bracelets or rings. But in the spring/summer when it's too hot to layer all your can really work with is your accessories. I'm trying to think ahead this year so I'm slowly building up my collection of pieces I'll want to wear every day.

Of course the tough part about this for those of us on a budget is finding pieces that are affordable but not 'cheap' looking. A great alternative to your super affordable F21 or H&M finds is to look out for independent jewelry designers. Their pieces are really unique and often one of a kind. On that note I'd like to introduce LEVITICUS JEWELRY.

The pieces on this site are handmade and designed by Tara Levitin. They come with really great witty names and a lot of them incorporate antique materials. The necklace I have on is called Chivalry and has a little dagger next to a crest. A lot of these are affordable even by my standards and I love the asymmetry and drape of the pieces. I would like to introduce Jacinta. This girl has an amazing edgy sense of style and one of the most unique looks I've seen. She has the kind of hair I wish I could pull off and can even get away with wearing leopard print and acid wash in a single outfit. You guys should definitely check her blog out here.

To get to know her a little better I've asked her a few quick questions:

1) Name, Age, Location, Profession?

My name is Jacinta Cheng, I'm a 26 year old interior designer and I'm from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

2) What are your 5 wardrobe basics?

- a pair of Havaianas (coming from a country that is hot all year round that would be necessary)

-a vintage rock tee

-black AA leggings

-Erin Wasson RVCA inspired singlet

-and a pair of high waisted washed denim skinny jeans

3) If you could have any foreign accent what would it be?

(That must be the most original question!) A northern English accent I would say. I love their slang, it's adorable!

4) How do you do your hair?

haha! Well, I'm thankful that I have friends who are hairstylists and it all began when one of them decided to open a salon and use me as a model for his portfolio. The blonde mop was inspired by the great Andy Warhol. When I agreed to it I told myself that I'm going to wear it for a week and dye it back to black, but I fell in love with it so much so that I kept it short and colored till today! In between, I try my best to evolve and take inspiration from people like Agyness Deyn, Vivien Westwood (hair color), to Russian designer Vika Gazinskaya. I'm honestly running out of ideas by now, so do hit me if there are any suggestions! lol!
