Getting Ready

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Maxi Dress: Topshop, Olive Shirt: secondhand, Headchain: diy

I picked up this simple maxi dress in nyc's Topshop over the long weekend. I'm also wearing a long arrowhead necklace I made but you can't see it in this picture.

I don't have much to do this week besides putting together some jewelry to wear to the show and making sure everything is in order. It's been so hot recently I've had a hard time being outside for long periods of time. I'm searching for some super comfortable flat summer sandals; flip flops don't work for me. Any suggestions?

It's seriously getting too hot! I love/hate summer. I recently got a handmade huarache sandal from an artisan market here in Mexico and it's light/comfortable.

I really want some nice sandals too, but the only ones they seem to have in stores right now here is the gladiator kind. You should move to Norway, no hot weather here xD

That long dress suits you well. I tried some maxis in NYC's topshop a while ago but not yet found one that would fit to my shape and short figure..

Looking effortless and chic as always, so loving the long maxi on you, it's one thing that I can't wear because I am so short!

I think the long olive shirt goes really well with the maxi dress. Stay cool! It has been rather warm lately.

I'm a fan of sandals with a slight wedge, a single strap at the toe and a band/cuff at the ankle. Kelsi Dagger makes an excellent one, Camillia, at Revolve!

I hate flipflops, too. Ugh.

There are cute alternatives to Flipflops like flat gladiators and slipon flat sandals at F21. Also try UO for their sandal selection.

I also love the JeffreyCampbell gladiator flats with a slight wedge at Nasty Gal. So much of a better alternative to the nasty flip flop look!

Good luck with your finals!!

Much XX.

I'm looking for sandals too! I'll probably wind up going the vintage route. By the way, your new kitten is amazingly adorable.

your hair is such a nice colour. i must invest in a maxi dress like this one, it's getting very cold here and my hemlines are too short.

i'm not sure about the summer shoes, i tend to wear ballet slippers a lot but they fall apart quickly as they're made for dance halls, not concrete streets. urban outfitters has some summery cut out oxfords i quite like.

love the black maxi with the grey/green jacket. can't wait to see your jewelry collection. jeffrey campbell makes some nice sandals and they're really comfortable. for comfy flat shoes, TOMS have a cushioned sole. I tried on a pair this weekend and they were very comfortable to wear.

I love the way huarachas look, I just got a pair and they are my go-to hot weather shoe.
