The Grunge

Now I'm not claiming to live the lifestyle but I do appreciate the layered almost messy style associated with the word grunge.

Recently we've been seeing a resurgence of Hollywood celebrities reviving the style made famous by artists such as Kurt Cobain by wearing plaid shirts and rocker accessories.

As much as I think her style has gone downhill, I really do think the grunge look suits MK's persona. I think she does the oversized plaid button-down especially well.

For Fall

Now that the magazines are starting to talk about Fall '08/ Winter '09 shopping I can't help but look to the designer runway collections on style.com for inspiration. I have a large list of favorite collections, but one that really stood out to me was Ann Demeulemeester.

I want to be wearing diaphanous white minidresses, fur shrugs, and black leggings with tough lace-up boots all topped off by a wide brim hat.


Or a black vest dripping with chains+feathers paired with black meanswear pants and my favorite lace-up black combat boots.


For night I would go with a loose deconstructed white suit with cuffed trousers and a long black vest.


When I'm feeling more girly I could incorporate some color into my wardrobe with some silky purple feathers.

One of my all time favorite bloggers The Kitten from Picked Pics has posted about the amazing style site/community Chictopia and has included a picture of me as an example of its stylish members. Now this is pretty exciting for me considering its the first time a picture of me has appeared in another person's blog, let alone one of my favs! Thanks the_kitten <3

Chictopia: Style Icon

Really, it is sick how many chic and stylish people roam the space of Chictopia. Yes, I signed up for Chictopia a while ago, it must be my 4th style community or so, but I think this is up til now the best I have come across, with easy navigation, appealing layout and better feel of a real community.

Back to my point, though, it is wicked how most of what is posted on Chictopia really IS chic. And I mean it. At first reluctant to sign up, it payed, especially because I met a couple of my reader of this blog through Chictopia, and it is always nice to get to know who is silently reading.

This is only a handful of those participating, it is really, really tough to select only a few, though. Ya, we are a crazy stylish crowd.

And - what is more - I have been selected as Style Icon of this month. Check the banner on the right, mates! Thanks!!!

Studs!

I love studs. Specifically when they're combined with black material of some kind. Unfortunately I have a hard time finding inexpensive studded pieces.

A while ago I did find these pumps at Beacon's Closet in Brooklyn, but sadly they're a half size too big. Until I find some insoles for them I won't be able to get much wear out of them. Today I decided to pair them with my trusty AA interlock mini skirt and a black and white printed vintage top. I also wore this cool necklace you can't really see that has silver and gold chains of different sizes linked together (from my grandmother<3). Of course ideally I would have these:
